Remote work has become the norm for many teams, but staying productive across time zones and home offices can be challenging. Here are five strategies that high-performing remote teams use.

1. Embrace Asynchronous Communication

Not every message needs an immediate response. Document decisions, record video updates, and give people time to think before responding.

2. Set Clear Expectations

Everyone should know what's expected of them and how their work fits into the bigger picture. Use project boards to make work visible.

3. Protect Deep Work Time

Encourage blocks of uninterrupted time for focused work. Not every hour needs to be filled with meetings.

4. Over-Communicate on Purpose

In remote work, information doesn't flow naturally like it does in an office. Be intentional about sharing context and updates.

5. Build in Social Connection

Remote work can be isolating. Create opportunities for casual conversation and team bonding.
